Soccer: Defending champion ATM stops Wolves

Defending state champion Archbishop Thomas Murphy dealt the visiting Coupeville girls soccer team a 9-1 loss Tuesday, Oct. 5.

The nationally ranked Wildcats (7-1, 9-1) bounced back from having their 32-match win streak broken last week by Lakewood in the win over the Wolves (1-7, 3-7).

Amanda d’Almeida fired in Coupeville’s only goal on a 25-yard shot.

Coupeville coach Mike Thornton said, “We played well in the first half; the ball movement continued to improve. Overall, the girls played hard.”

The Wolves journey to Cedarcrest (4-4, 4-5-1) Thursday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. for their next match.
