Soccer: Wolves stopped by undefeated Lakewood

Undefeated Lakewood blanked the visiting Coupeville girls soccer team 5-0 Saturday, Oct. 2.

In spite of the loss, coach Mike Thornton said, "Overall I was pleased with the way we played." He added, "When you play a good team they will make you pay when you make mistakes."

The loss to the Cougars (7-0, 8-0-1) dropped Coupeville's records to 1-6 and 3-6. Lakewood defeated Archbishop Murphy Sept. 30 in a shootout, breaking the defending state 2A champion's 32-match win streak.

The Wolves head to Archbishop Murphy (6-1, 8-1) Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 4:45 p.m.
