Swim: Undefeated Cascade slips by Oak Harbor

Cascade remained undefeated by slipping by the Oak Harbor High School swim and dive team 100-76 at John Vanderzicht Pool Monday, Sept. 27.

The Bruins (2-0, 9-0) won nine of the 12 events to grab the win.

Oak Harbor (1-4, 1-5) next goes to Lake Stevens (1-0, 4-0) Thursday, Sept. 30, at 3:15 p.m.

Karina Concepcion figured in on all three Wildcat firsts against Cascade. She won two individual events (100 meter freestyle, 1:05.97; 100 backstroke, 1:15:45) and team up with Kennedy Trisler, Tori Nickerson and Ciara Hu to take the 400 free relay (4:38.65).

Coupeville's Rachel Weinstein earned a second (200 free, 2:20.35) and a third (100 breaststroke, 1:24.4).

Other leading Oak Harbor finishes included the following:

Second: Trisler, 200 individual medley, 2:54.77; Nickerson, 50 free, 30.01, and 100 breaststroke, 1:24.34; Hu, 100 butterfly, 1:08.68; Hannah Schroeder, 400 free, 5:29.21; 200 medley relay, Irysh Concepcion, Leanne Empinado, Schroeder, Abby Rankin, 2:37.7; 200 free relay, Karina Concepcion, Trisler, Hu, Nickerson, 2:04.28.

Third: Schroeder, 200 free, 2:37.59; Irysh Concepcion, 200 IM, 2:57.01; Trisler, 100 butterfly, 1:20.91; Danae Nash, 400 free, 5:48.4; 400 free relay, Empinado, Irysh Concepcion, Nash, Schroeder, 5:09.65.

Fourth: Nash, 200 IM, 3:11.26; Hu, 50 free, 31.54; Irysh Concepcion, 100 butterfly, 1:26.04; Rankin, 100 free, 1:16.66, and 100 backstroke, 1:27.11; 200 medley relay, Summer Anderson, Lindsey Johnson, Jenna Fletcher, Ariel Walsh, 2:47.5; 200 free relay, Rankin, Anderson, Nash, Walsh, 2:26.23.

Fifth: Empinado, 50 free, 34.79, and 100 back, 1:29.56; Fletcher, 400 free, 6:19.8, and 100 breast, 1:48.55; 400 free relay, Annie Frosolone, Johnson, Tika Nikvashvilli, Fletcher, 6:17.35.
