Tennis: Wolves win 3-2

The Coupeville boys tennis team edged visiting Lake Stevens 3-2 Tuesday, Sept. 21.

The match featured five doubles contests of one pro set each. The visiting team was made up of players from Lake Stevens High School and freshmen from Cavelero (Lake Stevens Junior High).

The Wolves won the top three matches. In No. 1 doubles Ben Hayes and Chase Bates prevailed 8-2.

In second doubles, Sam Weaver and Nate Lamb won in a shutout, 8-0.

Larry Hurlburt and Nic Anthony took third doubles 8-2.

In fourth doubles, Ben Wehrman and Jason Knoll fell 8-5; and in fifth doubles, Brandon Kelly and Konrad Borden lost 8-1.

Coupeville hosts league rival Friday Harbor Friday, Sept. 24, at 3 p.m. Last week's match with the Wolverines was rained out and rescheduled for Oct. 7.
