Meadowdale won 2-0 over the visiting Oak Harbor girls soccer team in a defensive showdown Tuesday, Sept. 21.

Wildcat coach Jeff Laiblin said, "Most of the first half saw a real stalemate with both sides getting only long range chances due to great defensive play by both sides."

With just three minutes left in the half, the Mavericks scored on a through ball to finally break up the defensive struggle.

Defense again dominated in the second half as both teams had equal opportunities to score by couldn't punch in a goal.

Oak Harbor had an excellent chance to score with nine minutes left in the game when Meadowdale cleared a corner kick.

Meadowdale (2-3, 4-3) picked up its second goal with only 20 seconds left on a counter attack as Oak Harbor pushed hard to get the equalizer.

The Wildcats (1-3, 2-4) take on Mountlake Terrace (0-4, 0-6) Thursday, Sept. 23, at 7:30 p.m. at Wildcat Memorial Stadium.
