Shorecrest snuck in a goal just before halftime and it was enough to carry the Scots past the Oak Harbor High School girls soccer team 1-0 Thursday, Sept. 9, at Wildcat Memorial Stadium.
Coach Jeff Laiblin lauded his defense and the play of Jordan Boucher who was "fantastic in the goal."
Laiblin said, "The game was battled in the middle of the field with both teams playing great defense."
He added, "After scoring a lot Tuesday, we learned today what will need to be done to score against the tougher teams."
As the game progressed, Laiblin said, his team began to figure out what it needed to do to score but was unable to punch in the tying goal.
He said, "Saturday (against Marysville-Pilchuck at home at 1 p.m.) we will look to better ourselves in our offensive third."
