We should be thankful Navy is treating water

Editor,

I understand the concern regarding water quality addressed in Rick Abraham’s letter to the editor on April 28. We, which includes all American citizens as well as others living here both legally and illegally, should be thankful our government is taking steps to correct the problem once it was discovered.

None of the people currently dealing with the problem are responsible for creating it.

In fact, I proffer that PFAs themselves, as well as their potential health-related concerns, were not even known at the time PFAs originally began entering the environment.

From the tone of your complaint, it sounds as if you are blaming service members past and present for contaminating the water on purpose?

Honorable fellow citizens of ours are now doing their best to rectify the situation while they are simultaneously responsible for the daunting task of protecting our nation — no small feat in and of itself.

For you, or anyone else, to criticize and cast aspersions on their integrity seems both illogical and irresponsible. Aside from complain and blame people who did not create the problem, what have you done to help the situation?

Progress on any valid issue requires leadership and solutions, neither of which you provide. Yet you have the audacity to complain about those who are doing their best to bring state-of-the-art technology to mitigate our specific problem. I suggest you travel the world and successfully tackle huge responsibilities head-on for 20 or 30 years before you decide to expose your elitist entitlement attitude; it is the type of attitude fragmenting our citizenry, bankrupting our nation, and put Donald Trump in the Oval Office.
