Letter: Resident wonders, where were the poppies on Veterans Day?

Wearing flower used to be a way to remember fallen comrades, support veterans

Editor,

This is really bothering me and not just because I’m a veteran — where are all the poppies?

Did I miss something?

I looked here in Oak Harbor. After all, we are a military town. I looked in Mount Vernon — nothing. I also looked in Burlington, where I saw three people in Costco proudly wearing them. When I asked where they had bought them, they said Canada, that they had been wearing them for going on two weeks.

What has happened? This used to be a way to remember our fallen comrades and to support our veterans.
