Reporter Dan Richman’s article about the effects the Navy base expansion will have on Oak Harbor environs only told one side of the story.

I’ve lived in Coupeville for eight years, and COER is now trying close the park where hundreds have played and, hopefully, hundreds more to come.
New Naval Air Station Whidbey Island base commander, Capt. Moore, as quoted in an April 20 article, claims he wants to listen to the “concerns from the public,” and, “The best thing I can do is communicate with leadership in all areas.”
While we sit, loading coffee and pondering today’s to-dos, some someones somewhere are designing destruction (dismemberment, death) for the oak tree on Fidalgo.
It’s come to our attention that there is some misinformation swirling around about the relationship between Senior Services of Island County, or SSIC, and the developing nonprofit South Whidbey at Home, or SW@Home, so we’ve joined together to set things straight.
