The Oak Harbor City Council disregarded the outcry of thousands of citizens and over 90 percent of the downtown merchants. I’m having a hard time understanding how spending potentially $90,000, per Councilman Severns will help. According to Steve Powers, Oak Harbor has never hired a public relations group. So the taxpayers now have to pay for how the city and Mayor Slowik have mishandled this project? Rick Almberg and Jim Palmer push forward with yet another of many hasty, uninformed decisions that have opened the flood gates for multiple lawsuits forming in Oak Harbor against the city. Just one is not revisiting their decision after the public was made aware of council members’ undisclosed interest in the downtown. Who is going to pay for that?
