Merchant signs inspire rhymes

I’ve been noticing those rhymes pasted in some downtown merchant windows about “vote for your seat” for some time, now, and I have a rhyme of my own in response:

While ‘tis true that you may have a vote for a seat,

You should know that I’ve chosen to “vote” with my feet.

I’ll not waste my time nor my renumeration

with a merchant bent on blatant intimidation.

I’ll shop somewhere else, and I’ll relish it fully;

I will not spend my cash in the service of bullies.

So, vote how you wish when November rolls ‘round,

but I won’t support spite, nor sour grapes, in my town!
