Watching Island County government at work seems to have the same disturbing fascination for us as watching the “Royals” has for the English. Based on the statements of the Feb. 17 article entitled “Treasurer won’t run this fall,” it appears that the outgoing treasurer has already selected the “best qualified” candidate to replace herself. Isn’t that what “we the citizens” are supposed to do?

Next I expect to see “droit de seigneur” practiced by our elected leaders. Oh, wait; they already do ... Bend over Mr. and Mrs. Taxpayer/Voter, “we know what’s best for you.”
