The U.S. House of Representatives voted for the Affordable Health Care for America Act late last Saturday evening. Though not as comprehensive as the majority of U.S. citizens would like, it is a big step in the right direction.

All Representatives who voted for this bill deserve our thanks, especially brave Rep. Cao of Louisiana who put people before party and voted as the lone Republican. If only more Republicans were like him and would stand up for the needs of the people of the United States.

I also wish to thank Rep. Rick Larsen of our Second District, though confronted by a loud minority of insurance company-inspired disruptors at a League of Women Voters health care forum in Coupeville last August; maintained his cool and answered each expressed concern by his complete knowledge of the Health Care bill as it then stood, allaying many of the fears that had been promoted by the insurance industry.
