I think Jerry Goen is an excellent choice for fire commissioner. He is for improving and continuing all the services provided by North Whidbey Fire and Rescue unlike his opponent who wants to cancel medical service.

Goen supports the water rescue program service, which we desperately need since we live on an island. He is for purchasing another rescue boat so there will be one available on the north and south end of the response area. This makes sense since we could have a boat in trouble on the east and west side of the island at the same time, especially in the summer when there are more boats in use.

Goen’s opponent says he is for the program, but votes against purchasing another boat! We have a lot of water to cover with only one boat. I think all the people who use boats for fishing, crabbing and just pleasure would feel better if they knew the fire department could reach them quickly if their boat was sinking, or they were in trouble out in the water. I certainly would. I want to have a commissioner who cares about the taxpayer’s safety. I think Jerry Goen is the best choice for fire commissioner!
