“Elected officials question development funding,” Whidbey News-Times, Sept. 2.

Comment: Mayor Slowik seems conflicted in his various speeches about extending the sewer lines out on Goldie Road. However, he said the boat had left on that one and he had no choice. Why then is there a posting on the corner of Regatta and Cemetery Road for a permit to “extend sewer service to Fakkema Road?” The notice says it is to provide service to their customers in the rural area?

What “customers” could they possibly have in the county? The car dealers, mobile home dealers, businesses on Highway 20 that back up to Regatta or are near Fakkema? Is this simply the first move to annexing more county business into the city?

What is really going on here?
