Tax won’t affect lifestyle

Mr. Beeksma (Letters, July 18) continues the right wing diatribe against any tax. Perhaps he could explain how a 3 cent tax on a $10 purchase to benefit Island Transit would alter his lifestyle.

Many without cars or other means depend on this system for transportation. To deny them this service based on principle for such a small amount is not serving the public as Mr. Beeksma’s political career attests. Perhaps he could also explain who funds the maintenance for the downtown park that bears his name.
