I am writing in regards to the upcoming levies. Every time I turn around somebody wants to raise our taxes. I can see part one of the levy, we are already paying that, but I have a big problem with part two.

They want to hire math specialist so they can teach the math teachers how to teach the math being taught in our schools today. If the teachers don’t know how to teach the (new math) then no wonder so many kids are failing math in this state (70 percent statewide failing).

Two-plus-two equals four no matter how you slice it. The kids are made to do the problem, then draw a picture, then write it in a sentence, then explain how they got the answer to the teacher. They need to bring back basic math skills instead of this “investigations math” that the teachers need specialists and assistants to help teach our kids.

Change the curriculum for math! Until they do, my vote is no!
