Retain McDowell, a proven fiscal leader

I am writing this letter in support of Mac McDowell for re-election to his position as Island County commissioner.

I believe he represents the people of Island County fairly and responsibly. He has contributed greatly to the county’s sound fiscal condition, while leading in improving most county buildings, facilities, programs, and services. Under Mac’s leadership we have a new Law & Justice Center, a remodeled County Courthouse, and a remodeled Commissioners Meeting Room Building, and a healthy reserve (rainy day) fund all done without raising taxes. In fact Island County has one of the lowest tax rates, and some of the finest facilities, in the state.

Mack has the respect of public officials both appointed and elected in Olympia as well as Washington, D.C. Earlier this year I traveled back to Washington, D.C., with Commissioner McDowell and called on our state contingent of elected officials and officials in the Pentagon. I witnessed first hand the respect and attention Mac received from them. They believe that Island County is a model for the rest of the country in organization, planning and land use.

In this unstable economic time, I believe it is wise for the voters to keep a proven fiscal leader. He will be careful with our tax dollars and protect our county services.
