Church effort benefits CADA

Nonprofit agencies like Citizens Against Domestic and Sexual Abuse cannot function without community support and it’s because of this community’s generosity we’re able to serve Island County residents well.
I recently had the pleasure to witness a local organization make Oak Harbor proud by not only stepping forward with their time, but also with their treasures. Pastor Bryan Boersma of First Reformed Church recently called to tell me his membership had designated CADA as recipient of September’s distribution offering at the church. Bryan asked for a wish list of needed items to be given to church members. Then during a recent Sunday service, church members brought forward their donation of items for our victims. What an emotional experience to watch so many come forward out of compassion and caring for our clients. Some also gave monetary donations through their offering. At a time when our economy is suffering, the community spirit shown by members of this church is phenomenal.
There are not enough words to say thank you to the people of First Reformed Church, Pastors Jon Brown and Bryan Boersma and staff. Tonight, a few of our victims will sleep a little better thanks to the generosity of some of our citizens. Our clients will never know the donors’ names or shake their hands, but I wanted this wonderful community to know how much CADA appreciates their support!
We are truly grateful.
