God bless our Library

Fred Davill’s letter concerning the tax increase to support the expansion of the Coupeville Library expresses his selfishness, lack of consideration for the general public, and more importantly, for the school children in the Coupeville area.

The library system in America promoted by Andrew Carnegie is perhaps the finest, most valuable service we have. Every village community of any size is almost sure to have a library, whether formal or a volunteer group.

Davill stated that he pays a tax of $420 a year to support the libraries. Quite misleading, as the tax supports numerous county services. I pay property taxes, Mr. Davill, and don’t regret any of it. In America, those that have it support the whole community; that is our system.

God bless Sno-isle Libraries and all the workers, paid and volunteer.
