In an Oct. 19 article in the Whidbey News-Times, “Audit shows city pool aswim in controversy,” the article states “Fund was tapped by fired staff.”
Oops, I believe that assuming anything makes an ass of you. The first sentence in the article states an “investigation.”
Investigation it may be, but no one has been found guilty.
It seems Bill Walker will stop at nothing to prove he did not mistakenly fire two very hard working employees.
Commissioner Allan McDougall, as well as a number of other people in the community, including myself, do not believe Neil Romney is a crook.
I believe Neil and Vikki Robinson will be cleared of any wrongdoing. The problem lies with Bill Walker and his followers. They need to stop covering up their mistakes, and they certainly need to keep better track of the paperwork.
Blaming all this on Romney and Robinson to further their agenda is manipulative and disgraceful. Romney filled in as district manager, as well as keeping up with the coaching, all while waiting for a director to be hired.
This went largely unnoticed and unappreciated.
Wow, and he managed to keep the pool open and running smoothly for everyone.
The real thanks he received was to be fired by the very person he filled in for until he could take over as director, Bill Walker.
I am ashamed of Bill Walker and his handling of the pool. This really set a bad example for our children and the entire pool community.
