Party matters little for sheriff

Thank you for your recent front page story on my campaign for Island County Sheriff.

The political aspects of the current sheriffÂ’s race are quite confusing, especially given that the position is (and should be, I believe) a non-partisan one. I therefore find it difficult to understand all of the attention given to which political party a candidate belongs to.

In the end, voters must ask themselves not whether a candidate is Republican or Democrat, but rather:

Is he truly qualified for the position?

Is he deserving of public trust?

Is he the best of all available candidates?

The facts have yet to be heard concerning what has gone on in the sheriffÂ’s race so far. I believe that when the public knows exactly what has occurred, party affiliation will become a non-issue. For this reason, I am firmly committed to staying in the race and offering Island County residents the integrity, experience and vision they deserve in a sheriff.

Candidate for Island County Sheriff
