Concentrate on bridge’s beauty

Mr Montanaro (Letters, June 10), if you look back at the long history of the bridge you will see that the “jumps” are minimal compared to other forms of suicide in this area. We should not let such acts ruin the beauty of our pass which has stood clean and free for so many years.

If you think of all the areas people jump to commit suicide then what would we end up doing? You can not put a fence around every landmark. Next time you cross the bridge think about the beauty and watch a sunrise or sunset and be thankful you live in such a wonderful area. Think of positive things not negative. Since you are new to the area check out books about the bridge history it is fascinating.

I do not live on island now but my children do and every time I come down I marvel at the bridge and the scenic beauty. Enjoy it.
