While going through some old books from an estate sale and given as gifts, the discovery was made of a gasoline receipt from the year 1952! The receipt was written for a Mr. J. C. Rottluff from “Al and Walt’s Service” in Mount Vernon.

On the Oct. 4, 1952, M. Rottluff got 12.3 gallons of gas. He paid a total of $3.60 for gas at a whopping 29 cents a gallon!

I was born in 1952 and have framed the original copy of the receipt for display in my office.
