Homeless: Car offer turned down

Regarding Mrs. Vaughn (Letters, April 19):

I work for a living, I don’t ask other people to support my bad habits, and no I don’t drink. I choose to support my family. My nephew offered one of these homeless people a car, it wasn’t a great car, but it ran, and was good transportation. He turned it down because he didn’t want to get a job to put gas in it.

Like I said, I don’t mind helping the homeless, but when I see them in Safeway buying beer and cigarettes, I’m not going to support that.
