Smoking sends poor message

Free speech seems to be alive and well in Island County. However, rather than focus on the issue of who will serve as the best role model for our children among the candidates for sheriff, the pedants in their letters to the editor appear intent on attacking the messenger.

I simply find it beyond belief if the fine citizens of Island County want our children to follow the example of the sheriff candidate who smokes only to become smokers themselves? Just think about it in terms of how children view the top law enforcement official in our county. Perhaps then the issue of who will be the best role model for our children won’t appear as meaningless as it does to some. Just think about it. Thank you.
