Letters to the Editor

Lucky to have Whidbey General

It seems that most of the letters submitted to the editor complain about one thing or another, however, I wish to comment on a much more positive note. On Dec. 28, I was was rushed to Whidbey General Hospital and emergency abdominal surgery was subsequently performed by Dr. Georgia Heisterkamp.  For those of you who have not experienced medical care at WGH, I wish to relate that it was the best one could ever expect and I received the highest level of treatment. From the minute I arrived at the emergency room until I was released on Jan. 4, I was treated quickly, professionally and kindly by all — doctors, nurses, technicians, aides, everyone. They made an unpleasant time as pleasant as they could. The CCU and General Ward nurses were special with their compassion. Not only that, the hospital food was excellent and always served with a smile and a greeting. Cleaning personnel were also ready with a kind word or two. I wish to publicly thank them all for their professionalism, compassion and humor.

Great job all around, a real team effort on my behalf and Whidbey Island residents are lucky to have WGH and the great folks that make it function so well.
