Letters to the Editor

Land isn’t yours anyway

I could not help but read with sad amusement Mr. John Cline’s sane, well written and reasoned response to the thugs who are intent on destroying the small farmers of Whidbey Island (“Soundoff,” Jan. 7). Thing is John you don’t own your land because it never was yours in the first place. We lease our land and our homes from the state via the taxes we pay. We remain on our lands and in our homes so long as the state and its attack dogs in the form of wealthy commercial interests, the ACLU, environmentalists or some other political embodiment feels so inclined as to allow us continued use of “their” lands and “their” homes.

What you and I are reaping was sown by the cultural communal hippie commissars of the sixties. Not bad for Amerika’s least greatest generation. So adjust yourself citizen! The private life and property rights are dead in the USSA!
