Patriot Act inaction correct

You resisted the temptation to pass a meaningless, purely political statement to placate left wing extremists such as the author of a tirade that the Whidbey News-Times chose to subject us to in two successive editions. This would be the same author who regularly denounces Christians, American foreign policy and praises the repressive Castro regime in Cuba.  It’s interesting the writer chooses to focus on the Coupeville Council, since he lives in Oak Harbor. Watch out Oak Harbor City Council and Island County Commissioners — I’m sure he’s coming after you, next!

Thank you, Coupeville Council, for not passing a resolution concerning the Patriot Act, a federal law over which you have no jurisdiction, and therefore no reason to waste valuable time discussing. Although it is typical of the left to make pointless statements complaining about the tools our elected leaders felt were necessary to protect us from terrorists without proposing constructive alternatives (presumably because they don’t have any), you chose not to engage in such statements yourself.

You should be applauded for your bravery in standing up to the intolerant bullies on the left such as this author whose definition of “non-partisan” is “do it my way, or I’ll denounce you in the media.”

Good job!
