Letters to the Editor

E-mail column makes mistakes

I must take exception to the comments you expressed on the subject of e-mail. I am an avid user of e-mail, and feel compelled to point out a few inaccuracies in your column. First, you mention that, “Anyone who invents a way to suck an e-mail back to the originating machine will be able to buy and sell Bill Gates.”  Quite ironically, that functionality has existed in Microsoft products as well as others for several years.  The function is called “message recall.”

The second source of irony in your column is that it is fraught with errors in spelling, syntax, and grammar. Perhaps you weren’t paying attention to the schoolmarms when you were learning about journalism. I would hope you would agree that even in a newspaper the size of the Whidbey News-Times, the editor should actually edit his own column.
