In response to Scott Smith’s letter (News-Times, Feb. 23), regarding Puget Sound Energy (PSE):

I have found that when a question is asked regarding a company and the feedback you get is overly emotional and name calling, there is usually a problem with the answer. You call me a bean counter which is an accountant, CPA or shareholder, which I am neither. For your information, I was a Chief Operations Officer for the second largest company in Skagit County until I retired.

I can assure you sir, I am not naive. Of the six companies I have managed out of financial ruin, I found that payroll is always the source. When a person chooses a career in a given field you must agree to whatever the company requires you to do. That’s what is great about this country, you can either accept or reject the job. So if you must get up a 2 a.m. to repair a power outage, then so be it.

As I stated in my previous letter regarding PSE, there hasn’t been an outage over three hours since PSE subcontracted its repairs. If and when the power is disrupted for three days as in the past, I will at that time apologize to you for making you so furious. However, the proof is in the pudding.
