Are Oak Harbor voters being tricked by a Maintenance and Operations (M&O) levy if the money isn’t targeted for school maintenance?

Not at all. In fact, the state requires issues like ours to be called M&O levies to distinguish them from bond and capital improvement elections.  School districts throughout the state use M&O levies to fund a very broad range of programs. It is therefore not only appropriate, but also mandatory, that the upcoming levy be labeled an M&O.

Come on, community. Let’s not be nitpickers, and use a name as an excuse for shortchanging our kids. The March 8 school levy renewal is absolutely necessary for the welfare of our students and community at large. Please, let’s rally together and pass this one with flying colors.
