I wanted to communicate a concern my family and I have with information concerning our school district. Jan and I just watched the 10 p.m. KING News and saw a segment concerning our school district and recent vandalism that has occurred. Our first thought is, “Why are we hearing about this through a Seattle news channel and not through our local school district first?

Now, I may be making a mountain out of a mole hill, but shouldn’t we be receiving this type of information from our very own school district? Especially, from our newly-appointed communications director. Information similar to this recent act should somehow be conveyed directly to the parents of the school children and not solely rely upon media sources, including the newspaper and/or television.

Now, I know most news stories are full of sensationalism, and there may be a lot of facts not presented into the story, but we as a community must be informed first and foremost. Just a thought. What’s yours?
