Holidy season: Greedy grinch spoils display
July 3, 2008 · Updated 10:19 PM
Its happened again, and we sure hope its done and not the beginning. Another grinch has started to spoil Christmas for us and all our friends and neighbors who enjoy our Christmas display. Last night, Saturday, Dec. 4, a 2-foot-high white tree was stolen from our yard. Once again, they didnt take the stand, just the tree, and shorted out the whole group of lights. Well do our best to keep the display going for this year, but if this continues, this is the last year well put out a big display. Its two to three weeks of work to get it out; then a daily job to keep it all working. Needless to say, its also very expensive. We love doing it and consider it our Christmas gift to all of Oak Harbor, but its just too discouraging to have someone try to destroy it. If youre on Sleeper Road, please help keep a lookout for us.
Grinch just
got greedier
We have to add to our previous letter. The mean spirited people have now stolen our two mobile lighted rocking horses from our yard display. Weve added them to the sheriffs report and they will be watching as close as they can. Thats $100 worth we cant replace now that we have to live on our retirement income. Its very depressing to see our hard work disappear, and if this keeps up, well have to start packing things away to save them. Karen and Ben Bess
