Regarding “Editor’s Column: More ballots than children available,” News-Times, Oct. 27:

The real moral of the story is that we seriously need to overhaul the voting process, instead of relying on the honesty of people - especially when it is clear that numerous individuals are willing to deliberately defraud the system.

Voting rolls between counties should be checked and compared. When you register to vote there is a block on the regitration form that clearly asks if you were previously registerd and if it is a transfer. Additionally it is ridiculous that you have to show an ID to rent a movie, or buy a pack of cigarettes, yet you don’t have to in order to vote. Anyone can show up to the polls in Island County, claim to be one of theses girls, and vote. It would be funny, if it wasn’t so pathetic.
