Elections: Conard touches grass roots
July 3, 2008 · Updated 10:16 PM
It is with a sense of honor that I endorse the candidacy of Nancy Conard for the Washington State Legislature, to represent our 10th District.
I first met Nancy 17 years ago when I transfered my Soroptimist membership to the newly organized Soroptimist International of Coupeville club, which Nancy was serving as charter president.
I was highly impressed then, and remain so to this day, by Nancys exceptional leadership skills. She set the course by which this club operates.
In the interim, I have come to admire her strong personal strength and her amazing ability to grasp the most complicated issues and distill them to their core.
Recently, Nancy has been serving, by legislative appointment, as a member of the Citizen Advisory Group, investigating what steps and investments would need to be taken to permit continued operation by Washington State Ferries at Keystone Harbor. As Chair of the Keystone Ferry Advisory Committee, I have taken a particular interest in this study and have found Nancys grasp of the complexities remarkable and her questions very well thought out.
Nancy will bring a clear grass roots approach tot he problems facing our state, and intelligent solutions.
Her record at the local level is impressive, and I can think of no one more qualified to represent us at the State level. How fortunate we all are that she is willing to take on this responsibility.
