In the same issue of your newspaper describing a plan to increase tourism in Oak Harbor, there are articles relating to a planned big box home store coming to town, widening of Highway 20 to accommodate more big box stores and various fast food restaurants, and the city council's decision to allow the car dealerships to remain and expand at their present locations.

When Aunt Ethyl and Uncle Fred from Peoria visit Whidbey to view the tranquil countryside, where would you take them? When tourists visit from Lynnwood and Everett, where are they likely to go to escape their environment? Picturesque Oak Harbor? The city has a difficult task ahead of them.
