Highway 20: Traffic light isn't needed
July 3, 2008 · Updated 10:08 PM
I see the DOT is at it again. Their latest plan is to put a traffic light at 16th and Highway 20, just as you leave town going north. Now, Im sure the rental place and the moving company are very happy about it, but after going through that intersection at least 1,700 times in the last three and a half years and never seeing any cross traffic, the only benefit I can see is stopping loaded northbound trucks half way up the hill so us drivers behind them can have lots of time to check out the boats, new and used cars, and the windmill.
I, for one, am glad they arent wasting the couple of hundred thousand dollars putting in this light, because you never know when it might become imperative to get from Goldie Road to Regatta, or making it easier for someone moving to a permanent address in the cemetery.
I think we should re-instate the old license tab fees so the DOT can do even more useful work like this.
