I welcome Home Depot and hope they do build here. Oak Harbor isn't a rural town anymore, but the friendly, open people and beautiful vistas that make it such a wonderful place to live will not change.

Office Max didn't drive out Whidbey Stationers, they quit before building even started. They left all their customers flat, with no source of supplies, not even trying to compete. Wal-Mart didn't drive anyone out of business either, but it brought jobs, especially for some senior citizens. We don't have a reasonable source for building supplies since Paul Bunyan and Copeland went out of business. I'll continue to see the helpful folks at Ace, but they can't carry lumber and a lot of other things.

Think of our children's future. A good place to work, for a decent company, without having to leave the area. Any good business with reasonable prices and great customer service can compete with any big box.
