Election, 2004: Conard will make a difference

It was exciting for my wife and I to be in the audience when Mayor Nancy Conard announced she is running for our district’s House seat.

I first met Nancy over 10 years ago when we were both running for Coupeville town office. She was elected to the Town Council; I became mayor. It was an extremely difficult time for our town and Nancy volunteered to take over our most troubled area, the budget.

In addition to her duties as Coupeville School District’s business manager she tackled our financial records and within one month Town Hall knew where it was financially and was able to map a plan to solvency.

Nancy has an excellent mind with the unique ability to quickly grasp the most difficult problems and put them in terms we can all understand. She has an enormous capacity for work, her honesty is beyond question, and maybe most important of all, she deeply cares about this area and its citizens.

Nancy Conard is not a professional politician. Her desire in running for office is to make a difference, not a living.
