Like Leila Foley of North Bend (Letters, Jan. 31), my family was also at Oak Harbor High on Jan. 17 to see our granddaughter perform in the cheerleading competition, but we must have been at a different Oak Harbor High.

Mrs. Foley describes the school in “such condition as to be embarrassing,” and “not safe for anyone to be in.” Considering the hundreds of participants and supporters at the site that day, and comparing it to other host high schools, we object to her evaluation. As retired educators we have had the opportunity during our career to visit many schools, ranging from superior to inferior conditions. We found Oak Harbor High School to be neither embarrassing nor unsafe. We thank them for hosting such a huge and wonderful event.
