Feedback: U.S. falling behind
July 3, 2008 · Updated 9:58 PM
I just read Jake Watts recent letter to the editor and agree with him. After living and working in Europe for 15 years I am wondering about the direction the USA is heading.
I can tell that we are heading in a far right political direction. There is also a tendency from the far right to label anybody they dont agree with a commie and if they dont love it they can leave it, a mentality which reflects their ignorance. Most of these people are so ill educated they have no idea what its like in other western countries. Theyre content in their ignorant little world not realizing that much of the world is passing us by in both quality of life and technology.
What Americans consider a liberal, Europeans would consider that person a center moderate. Which goes to show how far we have drifted to the right.
As far as aircraft noise goes it might interest you to know how Europe handles this -- no training past 6 p.m. and no weekend flying except for emergencies. As a fellow pilot I understand the need to fly but there are rural areas that can be designated as fly zones. There is also simulator training but it is somewhat limited in its effect
