Feedback: Part of quote omitted

I was stunned, appalled and angry when I saw your highlighted, bold print quote from Rep. Barry Sehlin at the top of the recent article regarding the school levy issue. It was clearly incomplete.

Limiting his quote, to reflect your opinion is gross irresponsibility and very obviously reflects your bias on this levy issue. Anyone with the desire to read the entire article will clearly see that Rep. Sehlin's quote does not end as you would have your readers believe. In fact his quote goes on the state. "...BUT amending the constitution should not be done to address the problems of one or two districts."

Rep Sehlin, no doubt, is genuinely embarrassed that Oak Harbor has such difficulty passing levies, however, were the responsible people truly in touch with the electorate, they would have amended their levies to reflect the wishes of the people and levies would likely receive approval, rather than the resounding defeats they have gotten through the years.

Amending the constitution is not the way for Oak Harbor to pass levies. I believe realistic requests would be better received by the voters, vice lowering the standards for approval.
