Memorial stadium: Good time to dump football

The football stands are falling down, so what? Maybe it’s time to use some logic instead of emotion and get rid of football. If you’ve seen one game you’ve seen them all, they serve no real function other than letting a bunch of pot-bellied old timers reminisce about their “high school glory days,” provide the medical community with young patients and burn up a bunch of money sponsoring the non-academic event.

Let’s have a huge bonfire and a party, everybody bring hotdogs and potato salad and, with the Fire Department’s help, we can solve this whole thing in one afternoon.

Instead of wasting a bunch of money on a sorry game, we could use the money to better purpose. Improve the library, improve any number of things from a long list I’m sure the schools can provide quickly, even build those idiotic sidewalks that seem to be a speed bump in educational progress.
