Memorial stadium: Good time to dump football
July 3, 2008 · Updated 9:53 PM
The football stands are falling down, so what? Maybe its time to use some logic instead of emotion and get rid of football. If youve seen one game youve seen them all, they serve no real function other than letting a bunch of pot-bellied old timers reminisce about their high school glory days, provide the medical community with young patients and burn up a bunch of money sponsoring the non-academic event.
Lets have a huge bonfire and a party, everybody bring hotdogs and potato salad and, with the Fire Departments help, we can solve this whole thing in one afternoon.
Instead of wasting a bunch of money on a sorry game, we could use the money to better purpose. Improve the library, improve any number of things from a long list Im sure the schools can provide quickly, even build those idiotic sidewalks that seem to be a speed bump in educational progress.
