Football fields: Stadium blame belongs to board

I have family residing in Oak Harbor, but I am working in Bahrain. I read the article about the Wildcats football team playing at a different field due to safety concerns about the stands in Oak Harbor. I was appalled by the inaction by the Oak Harbor School District to correct this problem. These bleachers have been a problem for years — not acting and hoping the safety survey will grant another year of use is dangerous. The leadership of the Oak Harbor School district is inept if it can’t realize the need for action.

Oak Harbor football went to the finals last year, and this year they have to borrow a field and have the embarrassment of not being able to support the ONLY high school in the city. The superintendent of Oak Harbor schools should take a pay cut — he has failed to act on an issue that has been ongoing for too long.

I guess the sports program for the entire student body should suffer due to the inaction of the school board.
