Experienced, tireless, and goal oriented
By Bob Morrison
I have been a permanent resident of Oak Harbor for the past 32 years. I am married and the father of two and the grandfather or three. I want to serve as your mayor because I feel that I have unique qualifications that the other candidates do not possess. I have a vision that can move the city forward in times of budget constraints and ever more requirements put on us by the State of Washington.
I am the only candidate that can provide a new and positive style of leadership. I am the only candidate with a management background, a two-time business owner, and have been employed as a corporate trainer for the Boeing Company.
I am virtually tireless, and extremely goal oriented. I am an analytical problem solver, analyze evaluate solve and move on.
I have been a dedicated volunteer in the city of Oak Harbor for the past 36 years. While at the Naval Air Station in 1967 for a short training course, I sought out the Oak Harbor Jaycees, to see what I might be able to contribute. After a tour on Guam, I returned to Oak Harbor and rejoined the Jaycees and later served as president. While with the Jaycees I brought forward, chaired and organized the first Special Olympics for Oak Harbor. I have also been a member of the Oak Harbor Kiwanis, Oak Harbor Lions and the Masonic Lodge #15 in Coupeville and Garfield 41 in LaConner.
I have been active with the youth in my church for over 15 years, serving for a short period as a youth activities director. I provided baptismal instruction for parents of the church for over ten years.
I served the youth of Oak Harbor as a coach in baseball, football and basketball for 12 years.
I served for four years as a member of the Oak Harbor Comprehensive Plan task force, serving for two years as chairman. I have served on the Harbor Pride Task Force, New Transportation Policy Board (Island Transit Executive Board).
I have served as a member of the Oak Harbor City Council for the past four years, a council of which I am proud to be a member.
USN (Ret) after serving nearly 29 years. Nineteen years at NASWI.
Education: BA in psychology. MS is HRMD (Human Resources Management and Development).
