Letters to the Editor

Feedback: Jet history found lacking

Obviously, Ms. Nicholai (Letters, July 9), you are very, very misinformed. You state in your letter that the A3D was not a jet. Well I'm here to tell you that, not only was it a jet, it was a bomber, a fueler and the platform for the electronic jamming aircraft we now know as the EA-6B.

As far as your comment about the Navy "thumbing their noses" at you, speak for yourself, because I'm sure that the majority of our fine citizens in Oak Harbor do not echo your comments. The attack on the World Trade Center was an attack on each and every citizen of this great country and for you to describe it in the biblical term is preposterous.

As far as your comments about the past wars, where, I ask you, do we control any of these governments? Vietnam remains a sovereign nation, Korea is split between communism and a free government, and Iraq is in the early stages of a new regime to be governed by the Iraqi people. Oh, by the way, Kuwait asked us to step in during Desert Storm and they also remain a sovereign government. Your illiterate article has only proven to shore up one fact … you presented the history of the aircraft on NAS Whidbey to the best of your abilities.
