Mr. Bill Strowbridge is to be commended for his compassionate letter (News-Times, March 22) evaluating the former treasurer’s tenure of office.

Maxine Sauter probably should have stepped down and perhaps would have, if she had not been “enabled” by her “friends.” As Mr. Strowbridge stated, “those who let the treasurer down should re-examine their motives... .”

I would urge those who support those “so-called friends” of Mrs. Sauter to think carefully when these politicians ask for their vote in upcoming elections.

Are they concerned about our community and doing what is right, or will they “use” anyone and do anything, even if it is wrong, to keep their “elected position of control.”
