War protests: Peace shows troop support

I was disappointed in the headline of the Saturday, Feb. 15, Whidbey News-Times, “Pro-troops rally happens today,” which implies that a rally held by the Island County Republican Party to support President Bush’s war policy is somehow “pro-troops.” Nothing could be further from the truth!

A policy, which for the sake of a moneyed few, puts our service men and women in harm’s way is not in the least in support of those men and women! Rather, a policy of a peaceful, diplomatic resolution to the current political impasse is far more in support of these brave men and women.
