Elections: Endorsement insults both
Mr. Jim Larsen, as editor of the News-Times, you are expected to write your endorsements for political candidates. Your choice is your prerogative, but your editorial regarding Eron Berg and Barbara Bailey seems disingenuous and superficial. Not only is it insipid, but it is insulting to both candidates.
About Barbara Bailey you wrote, She has experience in volunteer activities. It must be embarrassing for Mrs. Bailey that you would think that is one of her top qualifications for political office.
About Eron Berg you wrote, He needs more seasoning before being elected.
You fail to support your statement. It is meaningless. He is a seasoned campaigner, elected official, attorney, civic leader, creative fund-raiser for civic projects, public speaker, problem solver, school supporter, environmental activist, small business owner, and also a seasoned advocate for seniors and for fiscal responsibility. Is seven years long enough?
May we suggest that you carefully and specifically compare the seasoning of both candidates for political office.
